As someone who lived and worked in China, I was taken aback, a couple of years ago, by your controversial remark on social media about a marriage of convenience. That was a definite misstep, and I believe you've lost some fans because of it. Such comments are never viewed positively. China is a wonderful place to be, and I still visit the country twice a year. It's a country where foreigners must be mindful of their actions. Despite this, I have no doubt that you love the country very much.

Your video showed that announcements on the plane are made in Mandarin, Uyghur, and English. Uyghur language being suppressed? Says who? I don't think so. Was same on my flights into Xinjiang and from Urumqi to Hotan. Flying into Urumqi, I was amazed how industrialized the outskirts of the city was... how many hi-rise buildings there were... valleys in the mountains all had dams with reservoirs... mountaintops beautiful with snow. I think I also saw a university... because there was a soccer field in the middle of it. At Urumqi airport, had to walk thru a parking lot from one terminal to another. I observed that in the parking lot, there were European cars like Mercedes and Volvos, Japanese cars like Hondas and Toyotas, Korean cars like Hyundai... but no American cars! Observed that airport security at Urumqi airport was made up of both Chinese and Uyghurs. There were some hapa Uyghur-Chinese too. In Kashgar and Hotan, security guards were mostly Uyghurs... few Chinese. Who said that Uyghurs in Xinjiang were being suppressed? Too bad you took the train from Urumqi to Kashgar and slept. I flew from Urumqi to Hotan and watched the breathtaking beautiful snow covered mountains of the Tianshan Range as we flew over. Most of the tourists I saw were Chinese. One Japanese tour group and a few Koreans. We were the only Americans. Not saying that's how it is,... just what I observed. For those of you who has never been to Xinjiang, go there and see for yourself... then make comment. But if you do go, go with open mind without chip on shoulder.

I totally don't mind about the security checking points in china because that make me feel even more safe. before judging, people should go to china to see the real china by themselves.

I appreciate the fact that Noel openly states that his presence in Chongqing is sponsored by iChongqing. No problem with that, of course - lots of cities in China and throughout the world have such government-funded organizations to promote tourism, and part of that is funding visits by social media influencers, both foreign and domestic. A few years ago some other China expat RUclipsrs tried to make the claim that iChongqing wasn't a government organization, which was later proven not only to be patently false, but also uncovered these content creators' disingenuous efforts to appear "independent" and "objective" when commenting on political issues. I have no problem with some British guy, American, or Canadian, etc... being staunchly pro-CCP and/or anti-West, but I do have a problem if at the same time they're trying to obfuscate the fact that they earn their living, even partially, from the Chinese government itself. Be open about everything and let the chips fall where they may - there's no shame in making a living, but don't try to hide from it being noted by your critics that the political stance you take on your RUclips channel just might be, to some degree, influenced by your side gigs with CGTN, CRI, iCongqing, etc... In China, of course, if a RUclipsr says things critical of the Party, he/she can expect NOT to be offered such government-sponsored opportunities, and, conversely, if they consistently produce pro-China/CCP political opinion content they will likely be offered more and more trips, CGTN/CRN interviews, factory visits, reposts of their videos on Chinese social media channels (expanding their viewer base), etc... Again, I have no problem with that relationship and way of making a living, as long as its up-front and honest.

I was wondering where have you been doing because I have not seeing for long time. Glad to see you back. Please keep us updated about your life and experience in China since we don't get real information and reality in China from mainstream media in the US.

Wait you’re Singaporean so why are you talking shit to your viewers about your opinion on the internet while you don’t know anything about what’s actually happening in China. If you want to convince us that CNN is lying and China isn’t exploiting the Uyghurs then you should be traveling to Xinjiang’s “concentration camps” and listen to the voices of the Uyghurs living there. I need some real evidence instead of people talking in front of cameras at their home/studio. I’m not pro west or pro China but I believe in the TRUTH.
